When is The Brighouse 1940s Weekend?
Step back in time as Brighouse goes to the 1940s era on the weekend of 3rd-4th June 2017. The Brighouse 1940s Weekend is a street festival in the West Yorkshire Market Town that brings to life the 1940s era.

The clocks will be turned back more than 70 years to the bygone days of the home front, make do and mend, dance music and variety shows. Millions of people rejoiced in the news and in towns and cities across the country, people marked the victory with street parties, dancing and singing.
The entire town centre and shops are transformed for the event; see vintage cars, join in the dancing, sit in a Spitfire, ride on a vintage bus, bake 40s bread, see Churchill, sing-along with George Formby, learn to dance the Lindy Hop, dance the night away to the sounds of the 40s from the Ashby Big Band or see the play Goodnight Mr Tom.
This is just a flavour of the wonderful events taking place over this free family fun weekend.
Brighouse will become the venue for a host of 1940s events and displays from Spitfires to vintage vehicles, from home cooking to 1940s dress and make up. Why not join in the fun and come dressed in 40s style and help bring a real period feel to the town.
Imagine seeing Brighouse as it was in 1945.
On both days attractions include vintage military and civilian vehicle displays, a Winston Churchill lookalike, performances from 1940s singers and 100’s of re-enactors dressed 40’s style. A The RAF will flyover with an Hurricane on Saturday (weather permitting)
Visitors will also have the chance to climb in the cockpit of a full size replica Spitfire and enjoy displays from the Land Army, RAF, Luftwaffe, Dambusters, French Resistance and sample W.I. cooking to name but a few. If all of this isn’t enough, a vintage market will be held and youngsters will be able to enjoy period fairground rides.

40s entertainment on two stages – George Corner and Thornton Square.
Goodnight Mr Tom – the play – Friday June 2nd and Saturday June 3rd
Staged by local theatre group Foot of the Barrel at Brighouse Civic Hall on Friday June 2nd and two performances (2.30pm / 7.30pm) on Saturday June 3rd.
