Canal trips in Brighouse

It’s a special “Thank you” to all our customers at Ryecorn Wholefoods and Blakeley’s Fish & Chip Take-Away and for anyone else for shopping in Brighouse during the pandemic.

On the first four Sundays in August, we will be operating a barge provided by Calder Navigation Society.  The boat will pick up passengers by the Huddersfield Road Bridge near Sainsbury’s

The cruise will take you to the canal basin to turn around and then sail up to the first lock where the barge will again turn and bring you back to the town centre. The journey takes around 30 minutes

Calder Navigation Society  is a charity and operates the barge “SAVILE” for the benefit of canal users and dependants. A collection bucket is on-board for donations.

Blakeley’s Fish & Chip Take-Away has a special deal of Fish & Chips and a Canal Cruise for just £5.00 per person.

Ryecorn Wholefoods is offering a cruise for just £1.00 including a free drink on-board.

Buy your tickets at Ryecorn Wholefoods & Harrison Lord Gallery, Bradford Road.

As space is limited to 12 passengers per trip you need to book your passage to ensure a seat.

Brighouse Cinema

Brighouse Community Cinema was set up by volunteers to fill the gap left by the Albert Cinema closing 40 years ago. It is run by the charity “Arts for Brighouse”.

On the third Thursday of every month we set up a top quality cinema in the church hall so that the residents of Brighouse and Rastrick can enjoy an evening at the cinema on their doorstep.

We screen a carefully selected range of films.

Doors open at 7pm with the films starting at 7:30pm. We have an interval during the film so you can enjoy the refreshments on offer which include tea, coffee, soft drinks and ice cream.

We hope you will join us for a great night out at your local, community cinema.

Tickets are available on the door bur as demand is often high you can pre-book at Harrison Lord or Ryecorn Wholefoods or book online at www.brighousecinema.co.uk

Meal deals at Blakeleys will also be available, see our website or ring 01484 711835.

Films are shown on the third Thursday of every month,  Church Hall, St John’s Rastrick, HD6 1HL. Near the railway station.
